Greetings from the Founder
Sikhs all over the world are celebrating the 400th Anniversary of the Installation of Guru Granth Sahib. It was in 1604 that the fifth Guru, Arjan Dev Ji, first installed Sri Guru Granth Sahib in the Harmander Sahib at Amritsar. Guru Arjan Dev Ji compiled the Vanis (hymns) of his four predecessors, some of the Bhaktas (saints) and his own writings. The scribe was Bhai Gurdas and the place chosen for writing this Holy Scripture was Gurdwara Ramsar.
The compilation of Sri Guru Granth Sahib is unique because history does not speak of any founder or prophet of any faith / religion writing his own teachings. Only the Sikh Gurus compiled their teachings in their lifetime. It is also a great occasion that Gurdwara Nanak Niwas, India Cultural Center,8600 No. 5 Road, Richmond, B.C. is celebrating its 20th anniversary.
On this auspicious occasion, it gives me immense pleasure to share my greetings with all my fellow Sikh brethren the world around and the Sangat of Gurdwara Nanak Niwas, Richmond, B.C.
With best wishes
